About Maria Fernadez Alfaro
Maria F. Fernandez Alfaro is 19-years-old she was born and raised in Honduras and came to the United States when she was 11-years-old. She graduated as top 10 from her class from North Chicago Community High School in spring 2019. She was very involved in the school, she was in the Dual Credit Program, a member of National Honor Society for three years, president of Student Council and the captain of her soccer team. Her cumulative GPA throughout her four years in high school was a 4.0. Currently, she started her first semester as a full-time student at the College of Lake County. She plans to pursue a career in business. Since English is her second language she knows the struggle of what it’s like to come to an unknown country which is why she wants to help those people who feel like they don’t belong. She is a member of the Exito Program and a member of the Latino Alliance Club in the College of Lake County. She wants to help others and let them know that nothing is impossible.
