Adriana Ortiz was born and raised in Guanajuato, Mexico. At age fifteen, Adriana and her family emigrated to the United States in Spring of 1997. Adriana was raised by both of her parents and lived her teenage years in Carpentersville, Illinois. Adriana graduated from Dundee Crown High School with honors. Adriana attended Elgin Community College while working at a fast food restaurant. Adriana worked every single weekend so she could take off two days during the week and she spent those two days at school taking morning, day, and night classes. In 2004, Adriana received certificates in Office Assistant and Administrative Office Assistant. In 2016, Adriana decided to go back to school and attended Columbia College of Missouri. Working full time and taking night classes, in the fall of 2018, Adriana received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Human Services. Adriana is first-generation college graduate.
Adriana has lived in Lake County for sixteen years and considers this county her home. Adriana is married, has 3 beautiful children, and a dog. Adriana’s family play a very important part in her life. Adriana finds balance in her family and professional life by taking family vacations when possible. She is always looking for opportunities to spend time as a family. Adriana and her family love family road trips and have made remarkable memories.
Adriana is currently employed through Zion Township, a local government agency in Zion, Illinois. She has worked for Zion Township for fifteen years. This is where she discovered her passion for helping others. Adriana is always eager to learn and she started as the Administrative Assistant and in 2010 she was promoted to Case Manager. In this role, Adriana was able to drastically improve programs procedures, assisted creating the office client debase system, and secure relationships with outside agencies that brought additional resources to Zion constituents. One of Adriana’s strength is to build and maintain strong relationships with others. In 2020, Adriana was promoted to Client Services Coordinator. In this role, Adriana administers the operation aspects of the township programs including procedures, implementation and execution of new and temporary programs. She provides the strategic planning, implementation management, and ongoing evaluation of programs and services. Adriana provides guidance to staff to ensure appropriate referrals and services are delivered to Zion constituents. One of Adriana’s passion is to work and interact with youth and she has the opportunity to lead the Youth Summer Work Program. In 2018 Adriana was honored for her continued coordination of the Zion Township Summer Work Program.
Adriana is a Notary Public, Passport Agent and a Zion-Benton Leadership Academy Graduate. She is also a graduate of the Mano a Mano Leadership Academy. She currently serves as a Charmm’d Foundation Advisory Board Member. Adriana has been associated with the Charmm’d Foundation since 2018. Adriana has received leadership coaching sessions and has attended many of the foundation leadership workshops and webinars. This association has strengthening her leaderships skills, has expanded her networking, and relationships with other leaders and has helped her grow in her career.
Adriana is very resourceful and has a sincere desire to help others. Adriana is passionate to serve the Latino community at any capacity. It is with sincere honor that she serves on this board.
