Christa Sanchez Bice
Christa Sanchez Bice was born and raised in Lake County, IL. She attended Waukegan Public Schools where she graduated in 2003. At the College of Lake County she obtained her Associates in Business Management in 2011 making her the first in her family to graduate college. During her studies at the College of Lake County she was a Public Relations Officer with the Latino Alliance and Senator for Student Government. She continued her education at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale studying Workforce Education and Development and graduated with her Bachelors in Science in 2013. Currently she is studying for her Masters in Higher Educational Leadership through the ENLACE (ENgaging Latino Communities for Education) Fellows Program at Northeastern Illinois University, her expected date of completion is August 2019.
Christa currently works for The College of Lake County’s TRiO Educational Talent Search Scholars Program as a Representative. In her role at CLC she serves first-generation and low-income students at North Chicago, Waukegan, Zion Benton and Round Lake high schools. She has successful created a tutoring and mentoring program at each of these schools. In addition to the tutoring and mentoring program, she has created a College and Career Summer Academy to keep students engaged through college visits, academic skills workshops, cultural visits, and community service learning.
Through the support of her mentors guiding her through the college experience, she recognized the need to give back. She believes in providing the best opportunities for her two children Ricky and Aracelli. Both are actively involved at their schools and care about volunteer opportunities to give back to the community.
