Nidia I. Ortiz-Cahue was born and grew up in Ponce, Puerto Rico where she graduated from high school and attended one year of University when in spring 1990 came to live to Lake County, Illinois where she continued her education.
In spring 1991 she started working for the College of Lake County and now on her 28 years of service. She has been working throughout the years at the college on various duties and departments of the Lakeshore Campus where she is currently serves as Senior Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the Waukegan Campus for the last 10 years.
Nidia had earned an Associate degree in Science, Administrative Office Assistant degree and various other certificates over the years. She is the first generation on her family to attend college.
She currently lives in Lake County with her husband and youngest son whom is a Detective of the Waukegan Police Department. She has a daughter, another son and five grandkids that lives close in the surrounding cities.
