Sara Martínez

Sara Martinez, was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Uriangato, Guanajuato until the aged of eighteen, then moved back to United States to start her higher education journey. She attended the College of Lake County where she acquired an associate degree in arts. While attending College of Lake County she was heavily involved on different clubs such as Latino Alliance, Black Student Union, International Club, NAACP and was the founder of the sisterhood chapter of Sister to Sister on campus.  She also worked as a peer mentor to help freshman with the transition from high school to college. Then she transferred to the University of Wisconsin Parkside, where she acquired a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. During her time at UWP, Sara was an honor student and was awarded different scholarships.

After graduating, she was hired at College of Lake County ‘s Title V Grant Program, a program that she was previously employed as student. After as few years, the grant came to an end and she got hired at United Way of Lake County where she served as the Ambassador for United Way and 211 for 7 years. Now she is serves as a Financial Coach at Landa Financial Services where she educates her community about how money works so they can make informed decisions about their finances, be properly protected, debt free and become financial independence. After years in the non-profit arena, she saw importance of teaching the basics of finances the easy way to her community. She is in process of getting her investments license to be able to assist her Latinos with mutual funds, 401K, and more.

Sara is married with three children. She loves to dance and spend time outdoors. She is a bilingual first-generation college graduate, the first one in her family. Sara has a strong passion for helping others and for sharing what is available on the community so people can take advantage. She is always positive, and her energy is contagious.
